The Lion and the Shamrock is a history project, based in Dublin, offering talks, tours and research.
The director is Eamon Delaney (above, right) : author, guide and former diplomat.
The project’s original focus is the Irish in the British military – through heritage and personal history. Hence the name, reflecting this link between the two countries – the British Lion and the Irish Shamrock.
This legacy is explored in photos and the Personal Stories of families, particularly concerning World War One, a relatively unexplored area in Ireland in terms of social and personal history.
The project has since broadened into other topics, like inner city Dublin, the War of Independence, the British Empire and famous Irish writers and artists.
Walking tours are availible on these topics, brought alive through Eamon’s wide knowledge and vivid recreation. Private tours also available. Please email : eamondelaney2@gmail.com.
