A Waterloo veteran’s grave in Drumcondra

In Ireland, the British military was a major element of society and economy and a key part of our overseas and colonial experience. Much of that legacy remains in the architecture, infrastructure and social history. But also in personal stories and memories.

The project will focus on this heritage with talks, tours, as well as personal histories, mainly with the descendants of those who served. There is a particular emphasis on World War One, and Two.

A search button below allows searches for specific battles, regiments and Irish areas, such as The Somme, North Africa, the Connaught Rangers etc.

The project has been created by the author Eamon Delaney who developed an interest in this legacy from the north Dublin area in which he lives.
