A Waterloo veteran’s grave in Drumcondra

The British army was at the centre of Irish life for centuries. It was a major element of the economy and Ireland was a key part of the British colonial and overseas military experience.

Much of that legacy remains in terms of architecture, infrastructure, social history but also personal stories and memories.

The project will focus on this heritage with talks, tours, and photographs archive as well as personal histories, mainly with the descendants of those who served in the two World Wars.

The project has been created by the former diplomat and author Eamon Delaney who developed an interest in this legacy from the north Dublin area in which he lived.
