About

A Waterloo veteran’s grave in Drumcondra

For centuries, the British military was a major element of Ireland’s society and economy and a key part of the country’s overseas and colonial experience. Much of that legacy remains in terms of architecture, infrastructure and social history. But also in people’s personal stories and memories.

The project focuses on that heritage with talks, tours, as well as personal histories. There is a particular emphasis on World War One, and Two.

A search button below allows searches for specific battles, regiments and areas, such as – The Somme, – North Africa – the Connaught Rangers, – Eqypt etc.

The project has been created by the author Eamon Delaney who developed an interest in this legacy from the north Dublin area in which he lives.
