A Waterloo veteran’s grave in Drumcondra

In most societies, the army has been at the centre of life for centuries. In Ireland, the British military was a major element of society and the economy and a key part of our overseas and colonial experience.

Much of that legacy remains in our architecture, infrastructure, social history. But also our personal stories and memories.

The project will focus on this heritage with talks, tours, and photographs archive as well as personal histories, mainly with the descendants of those who served in World War One.

The project has been created by the former diplomat and author Eamon Delaney who developed an interest in this legacy from the north Dublin area in which he lived.
